Music Theory

Music theory can appear daunting at first but in reality most of the important knowledge can be learned as you encounter it when learning new pieces. Some exam boards require you to have passed music theory exams at a certain level to progress on to higher practical grades. For example ABRSM require candidates to have achieved a pass at grade 5 music theory.

It is also a requirement for those moving on to diplomas in performance. All students will benefit from a better understanding of music theory and I am happy to teach general theory, or hear it towards specific exams.

To gain top malles in GCSE or A level music a thorough grounding in music theory is also needed and I am happy to discuss tutoring needs for those looking for extra help to achieve higher grades.
